Bit of practice Visited this morning for a little casual practice on the back 9. Really love this course, picturesque and well maintained, friendly welcoming staff, sadly nowhere to grab a brew at the end, but due to the current health situation this is fully understandable. Can't wait to go again, keep up the good work 👍

Deceptively challenging I like this course a lot. Very informal and inauspicious club house. Offered free tea as busy when arriving. Exceptional good value. Played in wind and rain but offset by beautifully kept greens and fairways. Not forgiving so you will lose the odd ball and meet many people straying off their holes onto your fairway! Beware of out of bounds and water at the 7th and 8th!

Manicured relaxing golf course Little gem 18 hole with 3 Par 5s and 5 par3s one of which has a pretty water hazard to steel your balls. Well maintained and friendly and excellent value. You can play 9 holes for £9 and bring a smile to your face. No jeans but informal. Greens are very tricky!

Welcoming Played this course which is a Pay and Play one. No Tee time booking, just turn up and take your turn from the tee. Most golfers are put off by the Pay and Play courses for many reasons. The biggest annoyance is usually poor maintenance poor bunkers and untidy fairways. This course had non of those problems. Well kept all round and signposted. Greens were in the midst of usual work which the dry weather has taken some toll. Nice views from the top of the course and the newer section though a little boring, will be great when trees and bushes mature and give it some character. Enough water about to cause some difficulties especially if you think about it too much. Strange how one can make perfectly good shots on a straight fairway and fluff them when there is a pond or lake lurking on the periphery of ones vision. On arrival we were offered free, tea or coffee and before departing the same offer was made. Friendly and hospitable with a senior golfers green fee only £10.00 for 18 holes it is just good value. Some food available but mainly slabs of calorie filled cake, lovely!! If it was closer to home I would make it my course of choice instead of paying £750.00 a year in fees.

Best value for money in the country This is an excellent golfing challenge. It has length but with lots of run on its firm fairways, the greens are in great condition if just a little slow. The course plays as a links golf course although it is on top of the hill. Extremely well laid out and a really enjoyable challenge. Have not enjoyed hitting a ball from the fairway as much as here in years. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Get out there and do yourself a favour!!

Great golf, very reasonable cost, very helpful staff Loved the course with some very interesting holes. One 9 fairly hilly, the other flattish but with challenging water holes. Complimentary coffees and teas and lovely home made cake for sale at only £1 a slice. Would definitely go back there.
Welford-on-Avon Golf Course in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, takes the fourth and final place on our West Midlands list. Formerly a nine hole golf course, recent renovations have seen a second nine put into operation, proving very popular with those that have played it. What it lacks in facilities it makes up for in affability, variation and value for money. The course also stands out because of the sheer contrast between two nines. The front nine utilises the undulating land and the greens are well manicured. The back nine is longer and flatter, but water features come into play, and the 18th hole features an approach not dissimilar to the 17th at Sawgrass. It is a “superb family run course” with “excellent fairways and greens and a great layout.” A round will only cost £18 at the weekend, contributing to a rating of 4.19/5 from Golfshake members.
